Taping the nose after a rhinoplasty is done to help control edema (swelling) of the nose. Early on after a rhinoplasty, a nose may swell, particularly around the tip of the nose. Taping holds light pressure on the skin to prevent the skin and soft tissue of the nose from expanding. In addition, after a rhinoplasty the underlying shape of the nose has been changed by alteration to the shape of the cartilage of the nose. Taping allows the skin of the nose to help conform to this new shape.so its important to know how to tape the nose after rhinoplasty.

we utilize two different types of taping techniques for patients after rhinoplasty. In type 1 taping, patients place a single strip of tape over the supratip of the nose. In type 2 taping, patients place a strip of tape under the columella of the nose and then gently squeeze the tape around the infratip lobule. An additional strip of tape is placed on the supratip of the nose.

After nose job the patients are advise to tape their nose for at least two weeks.during this two weeks the tapes will influence  both swelling and forming.from the second week on however the nose types are applied just to reduce  swelling.

nose tapes also is a alarm for people around you to notice them to be careful with you.when you wear nose tape on,you warn your finds to avoid touching you nose or doing a rough horseplay witch may harm your nose.

how to tape my nose?

Wash your face with warm water and mild soap or only clean your nose and cheek with cotton pad and alcohol,dry your face and leave it for 5 min to let your skin to drying out completely.

Use proper nose tape and put it in a tape holder to convenience of use..depending on size of your nose use 6 or 7 pieces of  2-3 cm lateral nose tapes and tape your bridge and not the tip.and making sure they overlap each other.

Use 10-12 cm strip and wrap under your nose in a U shaped movement.

the middle part of the tape should be placed under the nasal tip.

pressed up on to the sides of the nose so that it properly places on it.

the two upper corners have to be continued to near the eyes.

this tape is intended to support the tip and prevent from drooping.

again ,apply an other layer of lateral tapes on the previous layer.

Finally trim the small projecting portion of the tape from the tip by a scissor.
